Environmental Policy

Building produces enormous amounts of waste and CO2 through material mining, processing, manufacture, transport and waste disposal. We are committed to minimising our effects on the environment in the following ways:

• Carefully selecting materials based on their ecological performance and levels of embodied energy.
• All timber products are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified. All hardwoods are locally and sustainably grown and forested.
• Materials are reclaimed and reused where possible.
• Local labour is used where possible. Travel is minimised by combining journeys in similar areas and car-sharing. Where possible, tools and equipment will be left on site to allow use of public transport.
• Waste is minimised by selecting materials with minimal packaging, and carefully calculating quantities to avoid excess. All waste is separated to allow recycling.
• The majority of documentation is sent by e-mail. Where this is not possible recycled paper is used.
